Memory of my mother(poem by Sonia Weitz)

In Memory to My Mother
by Sonia Weitz

Where is your grave?
Where did you die?
Why did you away?
Why did you leave
Your little girl
That rainy autumn day?

I still can hear
The words you spoke:
"You tell the world, my child."
Your eyes as green
As emeralds
Were quiet and so mild.

You held my hand
Your face was white
And silent like a stone,
You pressed something
Into my palm...
And then...then you were gone.

I suffered, but
I didn't cry:
The pain so fierce, so deep...
It pierced my heart
And squeezed it dry.
And then, I fell asleep.

Asleep in agony
And dreams...
A nightmare that was true...
I heard the shots,
The screams that came
From us, from me and you.

I promised I would
Tell the world...
But where to find the words
To speak of
Innocence and love,
And tell how much it hurts...

About those faces
Weak and pale,
Those dizzy eyes around,
And countless lips
That whispered "help"
But never made a sound...

To tell about
The loss...the grief
The dread of death and cold,
Of wickedness
And misery...

O, No!...it can't be told.

This is a poem by Sonia Weitz, she was a Jew survivor during the holocaust. This Poem was written by her when her mother was captured to be executed by the Naxis. This seems really bad to me. The words which she describes in these moments are so affecting that you will feel to cry. I had a shocking moment and my heart was full of sadness, silence, squeezed, innocence and many more which I cant describe. It also amazes me how she told her mother that she will tell the world and how she says that even she cant describe all the things that happened. I had many question and the main question that rise to me was why did they have to suffer like that? Why was the children left alone?

The degree of choices available

" Some people say that what makes a person a victim is that they have limited or NO options how to act"

What do you think about this statement. Do you think that victims of anything have choices or don't they have anything? And would you describe a person in such a situation a victim?

A person in such a situation is a victim because in most the situations in which a person becomes a victim, he or she doesn't have so many choices For example, when somebody takes away your rights, you only have two choices. The first choice is to go against the person that is mistreating you. You should tell hm or fight for your rights. One of the examples would be many freedom fighters of different countries like Mahatma Gandhi etc. The second choice would we to flee away or get away from the person.

Furthermore, I will be speaking about the Jews in holocaust period in Germany, when they were the victims of Adolf Hitler. What all choices did they have? Like above, they only have two choices. Those two choices which they have are to go against Hitler or get out of Germany. If they don't do any of these they will be put in concentration camps.

The first choice of The jew, to go against Hitler. It is not a good choice because when they are doing it, they are risking their lives. The best choice for them is to go away from Germany. That would be the safest choice for the jews at that time. But they also will have other problems doing this. One such example is they will have personal problems. The second problem is, " Where will they go?". Most of the countries have not accepted Jews to immgrate there. So that's one of the main reason in which Jews could not be free.

As I write all these, I conclude that I strongly believe that what makes a person a victim is that they have no limited choices or no choice. I have learned these through many of my own experience and by studying the holocaust period

THE ETERNAL JEW

The Eternal Jew

The poster of the Jewish man was made by David Pinsk in 1937. I think think that the intended audience was Jewish people. The eternal Jew visualises an old man wearing a black suit holding a stone with the communist symbol  and holds a sickle in his right hand and some gold coins in his other hand.

I think that the expression of the man represents sadness by the way he looks and the black suit or black color means death. The communist stone represents his anger against the communist or naxis. There are only some coins in his hand so it means that he is poor or the communist made him poor. The bright yellow background represents the naxis power while the jew suffer. The poster has really affected me because of the way it potrays things. This makes people think about how jews live and it will change their point of view about the jews and they will take some action about it.

It also shows many negative example but it doesn't mislead any information and it shows how they are being treatened. If I had to evaluate this poster I would say that it is an amazing poster by the way it looks, the examples in it and what it means, Although it is a bit difficult to know what the poster means in the first look.

The treaty of Versailles- Fair or NOT?

The peace treaty after the world to make an end to all wars after the great war, also known as the Treaty Of Versailles was not a good decision. I think that the treaty was not at all fair for Germany mainly because, it said that Germany was responsible for all the destruction in world war 2 though it was not only Germany. Many other nations who are responsible include, France Italy, Japan, Great britian and The united States. But with all these great nations Why Germany only? After reading the article and doing a bit of a research about the treaty of Versailles, I figured out that other European countries were giving punishment to Germany rather than making peace. It was a bad decision that that is why Germany even stated the World War 2.

Learning Profiles

The humanities class with Mr.Whiting was an exciting and an active class. He thought us learning profiles in that class. All the experiments that we did with him wast absolutely fantastic. Anyway, after testing our eyes, ears, hands and feet,I found out that I am a logic learner and my profile is A. Profile A is a good one and I like it. After finding that out I need to know how I can learn better?

From that profile and through my experience, I found that I learn best by focusing on details rather than the whole big picture. So details are very important to me and I look at that more often. The most important fact for me is that I want all the things to be organized so that it runs really smooth for me. There are also many more things that makes me learn the best but basically these are my main factors.

Being a logic learner the biggest challenge for me is to activate my gestalt side o the brain. For example: Looking at the main theme of something is really challenging for me. And an another factor is the writing part. For me to improve in studying writing is really important but I am not so good at writing and that needs to be improved. When I am in stress, I cant focus and that is a bad thing for me.

Anyway there are many other ways I can improve in for better studying. Some of them are verbalization, movement, a positive attitude and imagination. For me, somebody verbalizing a topic is really helpful and it makes me know more about the topic. I also like to move around or simply do something and I don't like sitting still for a long time. And when I have a positive attitude towards something it makes me more interested and eager to study that. Atlast is imagination and if I imagine something really hard, then I get a good idea of what it is like and that helps me a lot.

i would like my teachers to know many things. Some of them are I am really organized, I am a bit silent also. I think that I am really organized because I can find my things really easy. Organization for me is important because it makes my life easier and I am a person like that. I am also silent and even I don't know why? Though I am silent I like to cooperate with other students and I learn from their experiences.

Taylor Mali, I remember

We had a wonderful meting with the world Famous teacher and Poet, Taylor Mali. He was really an entertaining person. He explained us about poetry and ways to speak. At last, he told us about his memory and asked us about our memories. So the ten memories that he listed are
1) I remember the hot and boiling water that fell on me to burn my skin when I was 2 years old.

2) I remember myself getting my first ever price from the head of school for an English speech. It was a glorios moment for me.

3) I remember me being dropped off to kinder garden by my parents. I felt sad because that was my first day in kindergarden.

4) I remember myself being with my parents in our car when I was 3. I was with my mom, while my dad drived.

5) I remember my kinder garden friend Suhail. He was a really good friend. We did many things together.

6) I remember my kinder garden and 1st grade school. It was a small school at the outskirts of the busy city.

7) I remember the roads that led to my grand parents house. There were small houses and farms by the side. It was a beautiful sight.

8) I remember my grandparents house. It was a huge house and it was about 4 times bigger than my house in the city. My grandma did some farming in the house also

9) I remember my first selection for the school cricket team. I was selected because of my hard work.

10) I remember mt first ever accident when I was with my grandparents. While my grandpa was driving, a truck had scratched a part of the car. For goods sake it was only a small problem
